VORONKIV
Voronkov is a small village about an hours drive east
of Kiev. The congregation began meeting in a government building in 1994. In
1995, a small fellowship hall was completed where the church met until the
year 2000. The people now meet in the worship center seen here that was
completed in 2000. Pastor Alexander along with his staff minister to the needs
of the community in many ways. Summer camps are provided for the village
children. . Members have access to a medicine cabinet which has been
established. Food distributions to the poorest villagers occur on a monthly
basis due to a grant from First Presbyterian Church in Eden, NC. The $150
monthly grant allows the Voronkiv Evangelical Church to be a light of hope to
those who live nearby by providing food supplements to 30 families. This
summer the lake in front of the church will be landscaped and turned into a
true recreational area for the villagers. The church currently uses the lake
for baptisms. Due to the partnership with First Presbyterian, Eden, NC the
lake renovation will become a reality this Summer. Members from First
Presbyterian will participate in a medical team during the month of June. In
July members of First Presbyterian and various other churches in NC and VA
will help provide summer children's camps and labor for the lake renovation.
