Opportunities in Slavutich

Pastor Alexander and family, SlavutichPastor Alexander Mahovik and his family

"Slavutich is 60 kilometers from Chernobyl. It was built twenty years ago by several different countries for the workers of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. The majority of the people who live here make a 30-minute commute on a special non-stop electrical train bisecting a tip of Belarus to get to work.

Alexander, a Ukrainian missionary, started working in Slavutich four years ago after the first evangelism effort. The missionary support of $60 per month from Ukraine Challenge will allow Alexander to travel there and minister to people three times a week.

Youth and children's meeting in Slavutich

The church has eleven baptized members. Adults meet on Friday for Bible study and there's a program for children and youth on Saturday. Forty children attended camp this summer. (See opening photo.)

Pray for Pastor Alexander and the work in Slavutich. The majority of the people are very intellectual--scientist, engineers, and technicians. God is speaking to their hearts and changing their lives.
